The 2020 Toyota Tacoma
Ready for both weekend trails and daily commuter cruising, the 2020 Toyota Tacoma is a pickup truck that can work hard and play hard in all types of weather. Available in six different models, the 2020 Tacoma features a plethora of electronic upgrades to enhance the drive and ride. From a base model with plenty of get up and go to two special Toyota Racing Development packages, there is a lot to consider when picking a trim. Options available also include access to premium features and even more enhanced versions of Toyota's safety system. With the ability to seat five, the Tacoma can also pull double-duty as a family vehicle for camping trips or morning trips to school.
The Toyota Tacoma base model, the SR, starts out with a 159 horsepower, 2.7L 4-cylinder engine and a six-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. V6 and TRD models include an Atkinson-cycle 3.5L V6 engine featuring direct injection and the same transmission to help the Tacoma pack a powerful punch for rugged trails. Weekends at the lake or RV-ready excursions are made easier with the optional tow package that helps the Tacoma carry a payload up to 1440 pounds in the 60.5-inch long bed or tow 6800 pounds of cargo. Combined mpg for the Tacoma averages 20-21 mpg across all trims. Buyers can choose between two- and four-wheel drive options.
Apple CarPlay access on a crisp touchscreen display is standard in the 2020 Tacoma. With a simple USB plug-in or Bluetooth connection, it's easy to access phone options, text messages and other native apps, such as maps for navigation and favored podcasts and audiobooks. Two USB ports help keep multiple passengers charged up. For maximum comfort, a power driver's seat features 10-way adjustments, including two-way lumbar support, in a well-outfitted and comfortable cab. It's easy to upgrade with Tacoma to enjoy leather seats and other premium options, such as dual-zone climate control for the driver and front seat passenger and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
Exterior cameras extend beyond the basic backup camera to include a full 360 degree shot of the vehicle and its surroundings - great for navigating and securing the campsite at night. A Smart Key system and Remote Connect access make it easy to unlock doors and start the truck without fumbling for keys while walking. Toyota Safety Sense features on the Tacoma include a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure alerts, automatically adjusting high beams and dynamic radar cruise control to minimize manual cruise adjustments on the highway. In crash tests, the 2020 Toyota Tacoma received a four-star overall rating with four stars in the frontal and rollover crash categories and five stars in the side crash test.
The Toyota Tacoma SR starts at $26,050 while the SR5 moves the price base price to $27,825. For the SR V6, the price ups to $28,310 while the SR5 V6 begins at $30,970. However, the vehicle is eligible for standard Toyota discounts, such as the $500 college graduate and $500 military personnel promotions. Throughout the year, Toyota will offer targeted promotions, such as a low APR for 60-month financing for well-qualified buyers or a lump sum discount. Always check listings at a nearby dealership to determine if there are region-specific discounts for the local Toyota dealer.
